Some of the current artists at the Blue Heron
Here are a sampling of some of our artists at the Blue Heron
One of the first artists to join us on
our venture was Martye Allen. Her fine
pottery features designwork reflecting elements of nature and native
earthiness. We have a full
collection of bowls, pots, and mugs similar to the samples shown in the
photo. All of her pottery is fully functional and has a nice balance.
The artist's website can be seen at www.martyeallen.com
If you are looking
for something truly unique stop by and explore our hand-crafted
furniture. The artist Paul Goetzman not only demonstrates fine
craftsmanship, he also has a excellent sense of history. The table in
the photo features
birdseye maple construction with an antique domino handle made some
time around the civil war. Now that's something you don't see everyday!
Krystal Himmler of www.riverwomandesign.com produces exceptional jewelry from metals such as sterling, fine silver, gold-filled, bronze and copper; along with gemstones such as turquoise, kyanite, freshwater pearls and highest quality lampwork beads from across the nation. You'll find her pieces to have an appealing and eclectic style.
Christine Bengtston is a multifaceted bead artist. Her beads cross the dimensions of space and time, coming from around the world and through the centuries. She invokes a number of styles for necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.
Walken Rataczyk, another Winona native puts the heft in glassware. His bowls and trays made from recycled glass have a great feel. Whether used for practical or decorative purposes his works are a real bargain for the handmade art collector.
We are gifted to have Michael Bond as a long time family friend. He hails from England as is reflected in his subject matter. He uses a fluid intaglio technique in his etchings that follow a classical style similar to the masters. To see more of his work and to find out where I picked up the term "fluid intaglio" visit www.michaelbondetchings.com.
Larry Veeder shares his time between Red Wing, MN and Cornville, AZ. Come on in and see this award winning artists paintings of the Mississippi River Valley and the Desert Southwest.
